Director's Note

I wasn't going to write a director's note simply because how can one write a directors note in 2020 without mentioning 2020. And what can I say about this year that hasn't already been said by a better writer? Absolutely nothing. But, I had to do my best to express my gratitude to my cast.

I wasn't sure how to approach this project at the beginning. Since we were unable to return to campus this fall, I was met with a decision that I did NOT want to make. I had to choose between doing my original idea and adapt to the online format, or choose a completely new project that could work better online. And boy oh boy chef boyardee did I make the right call. I had an absolute pleasure working with each and every single one of these incredible artists over the past few months.

To my cast; thank you for the wild ride. Thank you for agreeing to partake in this unusual show in this unusual format. These characters came to life in our sessions. Some of their stories were heartbreaking, and others were an absolute delight. So I thank you for your dedication, maturity, and patience. I hope you are all as proud of this show as I am. This really was an unforgettable experience. Thank you.

Ryan Andrews

Ryan is a twenty-year-old actor originally from Toronto. He is currently in his third year of studying Theatre at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Ryan's previous credits include Cherry Orchard (Mary Vingoe), Macbeth (Jerry Eteinne), and Snatch (Robyn Vivian) to name a few.

Ryan is playing Alexander Throckmorton and Herbert Marshal

Brandon Cave

Brandon Cave is an actor/writer/ director originally from Hampden, Newfoundland. He holds a B.F.A. in Theatre (Acting) from Memorial University. Some of Brandon’s acting credits include; Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hard Ticket), Twelfth Night (Theatre at Grenfell) and Hamlet (Keeping Shakespeare in Schools).

Brandon is playing Perry Zoll.

Meaghan Collins

Meaghan Collins graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland Grenfell Campus in 2016 with a BFA Theatre (acting). Since then she has worked with a variety of theater companies and performance groups including Bard on the Boadwalk, Off Broadway Players, and Gros Morne Summer Music. She has also been a featured artist in Corner Brook's after dark festival, CBNuit. Selected credits include Kitty (Anna Karenina), Hotspur (Henry IV Part 1), and Janet (Period).

Meaghan is playing Emily.

Allison Crowe

Allison Crowe delights audiences with her dramatic and comic personality – in recent years relishing a range of theatrical roles that includes: Jellylorum / Griddlebone in “Cats” (Dance Studio West); Eamon in “Once” (Theatre St. John’s); and Justice in “Rock of Ages” (The Off Broadway Players). Her cameo in the Zack-Snyder-directed cinema blockbuster, “Man of Steel” (2013), finds the Corner Brook musician/actor reaching audiences from the Scottish Highlands to the Hollywood Hills. A veteran of Theatre Newfoundland Labrador productions, Allison is Musical Director of "Newfoundland Vinyl" – a rollicking hit at the Gros Morne Theatre Festivalsince 2012. This year she’s composed, recorded and released two albums of music with her band, “Pillars” + “Six More Songs”.

Allison is playing The Fiddler.

Lana Dauphinee

Lana is a second year acting student at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has over 16 years of performance experience including dance, vocal, musical, and acting training. She hopes you enjoy this unique interactive experience!

Aaron Dawe

Aaron Dawe is a third year university student and Mun's Grenfell Campus. He has been involved in theatre since high school and continues to remain active in the theatre scene through Grenfell's acting program and independent works, most recently he's been in a retelling of "Macbeth", "The Cherry Orchard" and multiple recorded projects such as "A Contract For Two" and is excited to keep himself actively involved in as many works as he can.

Aaron is playing Elmer Karr.

Ashley Dingwell

Ashley is a second year actor in the theatre program at Grenfell. Some of her roles include Popova in Anton Chekhov’s “The Bear,” as well as Dame Stanley in James L. Bray’s “To Burn a Witch.” Ashley has over ten years in theatre dance training. With this training she has won awards, scholarships, and has been invited to train in Paris, France and Lisbon, Portugal on multiple occasions. While at Grenfell, she has also starred in multiple short films and continues to work on screen in Halifax, Nova Scotia this semester.

Ashley is playing Dorcas Gustine and Zenas Witt.

Jacob Ferrar

Jacob Ferrar is Nova Scotian Actor living in Newfoundland while completing his Fine Arts Degree with Memorial's Acting Program. Jacob enjoys acting in all formats and loves computers and technology. Alex is playing Washington McNeely.

Phoebe Gill

Phoebe Gill is an actor, singer, dancer hailing from Stephenville, Newfoundland and is currently completing her BFA in Acting at Memorial University, Grenfell Campus. With years of vocal training, she has won multiple Rotary Music Festival awards for vocal performance. This will be Phoebe’s second year participating in Grenfell’s Directed Studies productions and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved in these incredible shows! Recent credits include Melvil in Mary Stuart, Christine/Sara in Face Forward: Growing Up in Nazi Germany, Slyvia in His Return, and Elaine/Mother in Casualties.

Phoebe is playing Mary McNeely.

Mckenzie Holbrook

Mckenzie is in her final year at Queens studying Art History with a focus on contemporary installation art. She’s worked in the Queens Theatre Wardrobe for the past three years, and acted in a play about the Great Emu war (yes she was an emu).

Christian House

Christian House is an actor born and raised Corner Brook, NL. He is currently in his fourth year of Theatre at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. He began his theatre career withTheatre Newfoundland and Labrador (TNL) 16 years ago. He has also been a producer for shows with Güd Productions. Christian was recently Humpty Dumpty in Grenfell’s production of Alice in Wonderland, and is very proud to be a part of this performance of the Spoon River Anthology.
